Not only does it benefit from some orchestral arrangements of the best effect, but it also allows one to fully appreciate Matijevic's extraordinary organ. The first one, once again based on incandescent heavy rock, starts with a "spoken" song to end once again in an apotheosis of power and rage. The album ends in beauty on two tracks sharing the same "frame" but having a totally different development. No way." Shine A Light For Me" appears as a very good rock track, varied, in which we find the vocal effect described at the beginning of the review and "Underground" surprises with its melody built by a cheerful bass and especially with the arrival of a flute then a trumpet for a small refreshing solo so much it is unexpected. One would think that after three excellent compositions, Steelheart would start to run out of steam. The festival continues with probably the best track of the album, "I Breath", starting as a power ballad then evolving towards a strong heavy rock with an omnipresent bass to finally explode and release all the aggressiveness accumulated during the first minutes. The sequel is just as exciting with a "Twisted Sister" catchy, with violins in the background. The title finally offers successful verses and a chorus and above all it cuts the hostilities in the middle with a quiet part to start again a few seconds later. So we'll have to wait for the third track, "Buried Unkind", to begin to relax and to find again what made the strength of "Wait". The second track, suffering from the same flaws, doesn't reassure and even makes us fear the worst. But the title never really take off, the blame for a rather harsh, screaming and monotonous vocals and a chorus lacking impact. "Samurai" opens with all the power that characterizes Steelheart on an interesting vocal effect transforming the vocals into a kind of electric sound. 12 years after "Wait", the band is back with this "Good 2B Alive". The album logically ended up in our list of rock references. There is no doubt that Steelheart will once again enlarge its circle of fans with this mature and exemplary quality "Good 2B Alive".Steelheart's previous album, released in 1996, was re-released in France in 2003, which allowed to discover an exceptional voice and catchy, straightforward rock tracks. The second one covers the vocal parts of the first one but, offering a totally acoustic content, it will have the finesse to close the album with a few bars of a saving gospel.Ī surprising choice, then, to start an album with the two least easy to access tracks when everything else is a digest of the best that heavy rock has to offer. Steelheart's previous album, released in 1996, was re-released in France in 2003, which allowed to discover an exceptional voice and catchy, straightforward rock tracks.
